Nelson de Oliveira Campos

Founder and Director of Kent Salsa and Kizomba

From the West African country of Guinea-Bissau, Nelson was born a dancer. With his family he moved to Lisbon-Portugal at an early age. Nelson has been living in the UK since 1999. He has been dancing Salsa, Kizomba and Merengue all his life. His teaching experience dates back more than 15 years. He has been teaching all over Europe ever since and is well-known for his energetic classes, full of fun and his extraordinary patience and passion for teaching and dancing.

Nelson has UKA diploma as a professional dance teacher. Currently Nelson is teaching Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and Merengue classes on a regular basis in the Kent area and giving workshops all over the UK and Europe.

More than anything Nelson is world famous as one of today's best Kizomba instructors. He is regularly giving Kizomba Workshops abroad & performing Shows internationally. He is working with UKA, teaching, training and examining dance teachers to become certified Kizomba teachers. Nelson produced the first ever English professional instructional Kizomba DVD with his partner Sophia and has since got Kizomba DVD Level I, II, III & IV on the market.

Sophia Meyer

Switzerland, Kent Salsa Teacher and Nelson’s Dance Partner – Absolute Beginner and Beginner Levels Salsa, Kizomba all Levels

From Switzerland, Sophia has been involved in Afro Dancing as a teenager and performed Shows with an Afro Dance Company from Zürich. Sophia has learnt Salsa dancing the natural way by living and travelling in South America for many years. Since she has met Nelson, she is improving her technical skills of dancing and has started teaching on a regular basis. She is well-known for her positive, clear teaching style, making sure everyone really gets it.In Kizomba dancing she found her new passion, where Afro and Latino roots are united. With Nelson she has released a Kizomba DVD and is teaching Weekend Workshops of Kizomba as well as performing Kizomba shows in the UK and abroad.

Niven Ladd

UK, Kent Salsa Teacher- Absolute Beginner and Beginner Levels

Niven has been dancing since young age and Salsa is his big passion. He is dancing 6 nights a week, including Latin dances, Ballroom...

Since 2005 Niven is dancing with Kent Salsa and is today one of our regular teachers, always ready to help and assist any classes.

Rose Hurn

UK, Kent Salsa Teacher- Absolute Beginner

Rose started dancing with Kent Salsa in 2005 and has been an invaluable member ever since. She is now teaching Beginners in different venues and is also a great help with the administrative part of Kent Salsa.

Jessica Sylvester

UK, Kent Salsa Teacher – Absolute Beginner Level.

Jessica has been dancing and performing in Ballroom, Latin American, Disco, Jazz, Freestyle and Ballet from a very young age.

Jessica is B-TECH qualified in Performing arts.

Salsa started as a hobby in 2007 and she got hooked immediately and is now teaching for Kent Salsa and Kent Adult Education in Folkestone.
Jessica’s fun, free spirit and out going personality is always visible in her smile and adds to her teaching skills.


	Jayne Thompson UK, Kent Salsa & Kizomba Teacher – Beginner, Improver levels and Nelson’s dance partner. Jayne has been dancing since the age of 3 passing exams in ballet, tap and disco with the IDTA. She has performed at Eurodisney and London theatres such as London Palladium and Sadlers Wells. Jayne attended her first salsa class in 1998 and started teaching soon after becoming UKA qualified in 2002. She is been dancing Kizomba since 2009 and due to her talent she quickly become one of the top Kizomba dancer and teacher in Kent

	David Dow UK, Kent Salsa & Kizomba teacher - Absolute Beginner and Beginner Well known on the UK salsa scene. David attend all the major salsa events in the U. He has been dancing for 8 Years, 5 or 6 nights a week! Have taught Bachata, Cha Cha and Kizomba and have helped many with their Salsa. David specialties are Kizomba and salsa dancing 3-somes and "Dips and Tricks".
